$7500 FLYING SCHOLARSHIP 2022

Information to assist Applicants: Applications for one $7500 flying scholarship are invited from residents of the Mid West Region, aged between 16 and 25 years, wishing to gain some experience and insight into the world of aviation, and possibly a future career.

In the first instance, applicants should complete the Application Form and submit a written application, stating their goals and why they believe themselves to be a worthy recipient.

Applicants who have done or are doing some flying training are not excluded from applying. Previously unsuccessful applicants are also encouraged to re-apply. Applicants who progress to the interview stage of the selection process will be required to undertake a Trial Instructional Flight (TIF) of approximately 30 minutes duration, at their own expense, during which their suitability and potential will be assessed, and then attend an interview before a selection panel.

It is not necessary for applicants to have an Aviation Medical Certificate and a Student Pilot’s License to undertake the TIF prior to the award of the Scholarship, however these must be held or obtained by the winner prior to commencement of training. Failure to meet the medical standard or to obtain a Student Pilot Licence will result in withdrawal of the scholarship.

The flying training would be conducted at a recognised training organisation in the Midwest Region. Applicants already undertaking flying training may submit an assessment by the Chief Flying Instructor of their training organisation in lieu of a TIF.

Payment of training fees will be made direct to the training organisation, and the scholarship must be expended within one year of award.

Award of the Scholarship will be at the sole discretion of the administrators after considering all information supplied by the applicants.

It is entirely possible that no award be made if it is deemed there were no suitable candidates.

Funds may be withdrawn at the discretion of the Trustees and Administrators if the awardee does not show dedication, self-discipline and perseverance, during the training period.

Applications closing on Monday 7 th October 2022 should be forwarded to the Scholarship Administrators care of:
